CARING FOR YOUR TIMBER:
MCM House timber products are designed to give you many years of enjoyment. Our timber is sourced from local and international indigenous hardwoods and are pre-seasoned to ensure maximum longevity. The beauty of choosing natural timber products are the unique characteristics and features within, such as varying colours, grains, and textures.
The natural characteristics of timber also respond to the environments in which they are placed. Splits and cracks may appear and should not be seen as a fault or a flaw, but should be celebrated as the timber takes on its own unique character. These changes in the timber will not compromise the construction or structural integrity of the furniture. And, as we cannot control the environment in which you place your timber product, we cannot control or predict the changes you will see in your timber. We suggest to minimise movement in the timber, it should not be placed outside in direct sunlight, near fireplaces, or in heavily air-conditioned areas.
In order to care for the appearance of your timber product, we suggest avoiding direct contact with heat, liquid, and abrasive cleaners or chemicals. Also, avoid placing hot items like mugs or plates on the surface without coasters or placemats underneath, this will prevent marks and stains. To remove any dirt or dust, simply use a damp cloth.
MAINTAINING YOUR TIMBER:
Like any big investment piece in life, timber products do require maintenance or restoration from time to time, depending on how it is used and cared for. If you are confident in doing the maintenance and upkeep yourself, we recommend the Timber Mate Touch-Up Kit from Bunnings to address any scratches, cracks and splits in your timber. All our timber products have 3 layers of seal applied.
The MCM aesthetic is for our timber products to gain character and reflect our lifestyles over time. However should you want to retain the original appearance of your timber item, we suggest a water-based sealer (clear matte finish) be applied every 12 months. Timber maintenance call-outs to your home or office can also be organised by contacting our full service maintenance team.

MCM House sofas and cushions are made from 100% pure linen and fabrics. To best care for these fabrics we recommend vacuuming on a weekly basis to remove dust and dirt. We also suggest you avoid placing these fabrics in direct sunlight, as the UV will cause fading and a change in colour over time. It’s our opinion that a fresh stain is always easier to clean than an old one, so be sure to treat all food or liquid spills as soon as possible with a damp cloth, but do not scrub, and allow to air dry.
We strongly recommend professional upholstery cleaning for all fabric and linen covers. Whilst our fabric and linen covers are machine washable, we will not be held liable for any damage caused by washing your own covers. If you do chose to wash your covers, make sure you only wash in cold water with mild detergent (never wash in warm water, tumble dry or dry clean as this will shrink the cover). It’s normal for our customers to update their fabric and linen covers every few years. A life well lived means plenty of chill time on the sofa. As such, a sofa is often the most popular destination in a home, and its appearance can reflect this over time.

It is natural for seat foams in sofas to soften, and cushion fillings to settle over time. This is by design, and ensures maximum comfort and the desired MCM look and feel. If you were to sit on one particular seat most of the time, then naturally this will cause that seat to soften more than the others. For maximum comfort, we suggest regularly rotating cushions to maintain their shape and loft. Cushion inserts can always be invigorated by simply laying them out in the sun to air.
MCM House outdoor fabrics are specially coated to withstand a wide range of weather conditions. To ensure good times and good looks for your outdoor furniture, we recommend regularly brushing lightly with a dry, soft bristle brush. The aim being to dust off dirt before it can become embedded in the fabric. It’s also best to avoid letting water sit for prolonged periods of time on the fabric, as this can lead to staining or discolouration. We also recommend storing cushions in a cool, dry place when they are not in use for prolonged periods of time.
Leather sourced by MCM House is generally corrected grain, which means it has a protected layer. We ensure our cow hides are tanned and dyed with products that do not contain harmful substances. The beauty of leather is that it’s a natural material, so any wrinkles or small defects should be considered a feature that certifies the quality of the leather. It’s also normal that over time the leather may undergo slight discolouration with exposure to direct sunlight or sources of heat.
To maintain your leather we suggest regularly removing dust, as it can clog the pores of the leather which limits natural perspiration. To do this always use a soft and dry cloth. Do not used brushes as the bristles can damage the leather. A fresh spillage is always easier to clean than an old one, so attend immediately using soapy water, rinse and wipe dry with a soft cloth. Do not use detergents, abrasives, bleach or household cleaners.
Marble is pores by nature, so special care needs to be taken to maintain its appearance. We suggest avoiding direct contact with heat, liquid, and abrasive cleaners or chemicals. Also, avoid placing hot items like mugs or plates on the surface without coasters or placemats underneath, this will prevent marks and stains being left on the stone. To remove any dirt or dust, simply use a damp cloth.
The stainless steel used in our MCM collection is either polished or satin.We use grade 304 stainless steel, unless otherwise specified. Stainless will not rust, however it should never come into contact with salty water for extended periods of time, as this will cause the onset of rust. To care for your stainless steel, make sure you use a soft cloth or micro fibre cloth with a glass cleaner product. Do not use any abrasive sponges, as they can leave light scratches on the stainless-steel finish.
MCM House rattan and cane is fashioned from the steam-bent poles of the Rattan Palm, a spiny sub-tropical palm that grows like a vine. To clean our Rattan furniture, we suggest brushing lightly with dry soft bristle brush. This will ensure dirt is removed from between the reed strands. Rattan can withstand moisture to a certain extent, but you should avoid excessive water coming into contact, as it may cause the Rattan fibres to become limp or loose.
The natural characters of timbers respond to the environment in which it's placed. Due to the Australian climate and the drought conditions we are currently experiencing surface movement may occur. As such, any movement, splitting, cracking or joint separation can be serviced by our dedicated maintenance team.
You won't find an antique piece without some kind of character which is exactly why we love using natural solid timbers. Like a loved pair of leather boots, both need love and care from time to time. A two year warranty from the date of purchase covers the construction and frame of our timber products.

A one year warranty from the date of purchase covers any excessive compression / expansion from polyurethane foam and feather inserts.
We do not offer any warranty on fabric or linen items.
A one year warranty from the date of purchase covers all light fittings. The warranty covers manufacturing defects (warranty excludes installation). Our lighting fixtures are labeled with the maximum allowable globe wattage, it’s up to the customer to ensure correct globes & wattages are compliant. The use of higher wattage globes other than indicated will void the warranty.
Further to the above, warranty does not cover any damage caused by negligence, wilful damage, acts of God, misuse or failure to care properly for goods.
