Elise & Jack, Brama House
Introducing Elise and Jack Brownlow and their beautiful home Brama House. Situated in the rainforest of the local hinterland of Upper Wilsons Creek, nature and remoteness create a sanctuary for retreat and relaxation.
We spoke to Elise and Jack about their build, what inspires their interior and what is next for the couple and their family.

INTRODUCE US TO WHO YOU ARE AND YOUR BRAMA BUILD PROJECT
I’m Elise, mother, over-analyser, crazy idea initiator. Brama is the actualisation of a wild wish we had to build a home amongst the trees so that our family could grow and live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.
WHAT/WHO INSPIRED YOUR INTERIOR STYLE?
I’m inspired by the simple pleasures in life; the unassuming moments we experience every day that build the story of our lives. I endeavour to create spaces that encourage pause, finding gratitude and appreciation for daily rituals.

WHEN PICKING YOUR FURNITURE, WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU?
A balance of aesthetics and function. Timeless pieces chosen with intention that make a house feel like a home.
WHAT DREW YOU TO THE ELIO MODULAR?
The versatility and ability to customise were key factors in choosing the Elio Modular. The idea of being able to easily transform our space by reconfiguring the shape, adding extra modules or changing the covers really appealed to me.
WHAT ROLE DOES NATURE PLAY IN YOUR HOUSE BUILD AND INTERIOR STYLE?
We chose materials as close to nature as we could to create a healthy home for our growing family. One of my favourite elements is the Venetian Plaster we used on all the internal walls - it’s a product that naturally breathes and is resistant to mould which was so important when choosing materials and finishes given the rainforest conditions.
BEST HOME COOKED MEAL?
I’m a bit obsessed with sourdough baking and feel like I make a pretty good loaf!
FAVOURITE SPACE IN THE HOUSE?
The dining space in the morning when the sun rises over the ridge and light begins to fill the house.
BEST BOOK YOU'VE READ RECENTLY?
The Bronze Horseman Trilogy
FAVOURITE DRINK?
My morning long black is non-negotiable.
FAVOURITE PLACE TO VISIT?
San Sebastián holds a special place in my heart.
