Introducing MCM House's Artist In Residence for 2022, James Coe. James has worked closely with MCM House Founder and Creative Director - Charles Hinckfuss - over the last 18 months, honing his expressive approach to art. A pandemic and two lockdowns later, James has created a vibrant and colourful collection that expresses his unique style.
About James
James Coe's art draws heavily on personal photographs take from travel and lifestyle experiences over the past twenty years. He also sources images from printed books, social media and independent cinema, with a focus on vibrant obscurity that may present an opportunity to create spontaneous variation between each painting.

These paintings have been produced over the past 18 months whilst in artist residency under the care of Charles Hinckfuss of MCM House. Coe has found new and explored existing methods and practices to create this collection of paintings in his own unique style. His choice of subject and composition is continually evolving but remains vibrant and colourful as he finds unpredictable ways for the viewer to feel his visions.
